I carry the 229 and use 1911s for range and eventually competitive use. I tend to not shoot the M9 anymore other than annual qualification. I do tend to ride the reset as I have shot primarily 1911s other than the 229. As soon as I can get back to my normal range I’ll be running timed drills and shooting steel again. No holsters allowed, no speed reloading, etc. The private range I usually shoot at is having construction work done and I’m temporarily at a public range with stifling rules because.stupid people. I appreciate the feedback but it seems like I have to just try it and let the timer tell me the answer rather than info from the masses. My comment about training more was more a question of this being an area where a hardware change is actually warranted. Only formal training is from the Marines and at the FLETC. If you were working towards a 2 second Bill Drill or sumpin then sure, get the SRT. When you say "train more", have you already had pistol training?ġ second per shot is more than enough time to reset your trigger. The GGI sear with the PTFE coating may be the solution over to you guys on that. Some say that the new sear induces creep and grit in triggers without them prior, etc. Im a little worried about installing new parts as I have read conflicting things (albeit on various forums with varying levels of experience) about the effect the SRT sear has on trigger pulls. Im not spending more than this as I already have a very nice trigger. If SRT, Im polling the masses for recommendations between the SIG parts kit for $44 or the Grayguns Industries parts kit for $80. So, deferring to the SMEs.install a SRT kit or train more? No empirical evidence via shot timer, unfortunately the range im at for the time being has a 1 rnd per second rule. Im at the point now, thousands of rounds later, that I have started short stroking the 229 a little after shooting my 1911 for a while.

I just didnt feel like it was worth it to upgrade as I needed to work on my grip and other aspects of recoil control before spending more money. The SRT Kit is $70.I have been dragging my feet on getting any of the SRT parts for my P-229 due to the oft quoted “.Indian not the arrow.” comment. The Self Defense or Competition Kit is available at the Grayguns website for $240, with triggers available between $39 and about $50. It comes with the self-defense version of the sear and again, you can select the trigger based on your preference. The SRT Kit – like the P-PAK – is designed to reduce reset travel by 70 percent when matched with a Grayguns trigger. The hammer does help a bit with smoothness, but for those looking for a less expensive option, Grayguns is offering their Short Reset Trigger (SRT) Kit. It’s a beautifully machined part designed to last a lifetime that is obviously expensive to manufacture. The most expensive part of the kit is the hammer. Any stacking or hesitation previously experienced is pretty much gone.

You can also have a local SIG armorer install the package.Īs I mention in the video, the real benefit after installation is the smooth and lighter double action pull. OpSpec Training features an armorer’s DVD that will help you with the installation. Kits can be installed by enthusiasts familiar with the pistol’s inner workings. You can select the same trigger provided with the Legion pistols featuring over-travel adjustability ( P-SAIT), the Dual Adjustable Straight Trigger or the Dual Adjustable Curved Trigger. Many will want to take advantage of one of three options to suit your own preference. The kit will work with the stock SIG trigger that comes with your pistol. The primary difference is the sears, but the competition kit also includes a couple of performance spring updates. First, you can select from a competition or self defense version. The kit’s price was also reduced, and a variety of options are available. It was redesigned from the ground up to incorporate SIG’s short reset trigger system. Last fall, Grayguns released the second generation P-PAK. Newer models have the same trigger design, licensed to SIG, and manufactured by SIG. The trigger was provided to SIG by Grayguns and installed in all DA/SA Legion pistols including the P229, P220 and P226 manufactured prior to last summer. It led to a relationship with SIG Sauer where Bruce’s P-Series Precision Adjustable Intermediate Trigger was included in the inaugural launch of SIG’s Legion pistol series. The introduction of the original P-Series Perfection Action Kit (P-PAK) was very well received. Bruce Gray wanted to provide buyers an excellent “trigger job” without having to send the pistol off to the team in Oregon. It was designed for the SIG Sauer® P-Series traditional double action (DA/SA) pistols. More than two years ago, Grayguns released their first action enhancement drop-in kit.
